The objective of this article is to know and dialogue with the sociohistorical context of the life of Francisco de Assis, seeking to present his itinerary, in a communication between the character and his time, in addition to showing his contribution to the current world through his conception. Born in Assis, in 1181 or 1182, son of Pietro di Bernadone and Jeanne di Bernardone, the young Giovanni di Pietro di Bernadone, nicknamed Francesco by his father, was notable, among other things, for his radical way of life. His trajectory is found mainly in his testaments and Franciscan sources. Francesco is known for revolutionizing the church, without, however, departing from it. Armed with a thought of unity and fraternity, he managed, in a rare way, to transcend time, to the present day. Francisco's thoughts inaugurated a vision of the world aimed at the unity of peoples, diplomacy, the environment and a culture of peace. For writing this article, the presuppositions of the theoreticians of Cultural History were used, and to contribute to the understanding of the man from Assisi, the bibliography includes authors such as Foucault (1989), Le Goff (2005a – 2005b), Duby (1978, 2017), Franco (2001), in addition to Fassini (2004), among others.
