The Universe in Culture: The Physics of the Stars as Artistic Inspiration

Resumo

Desde as primeiras observações do céu estrelado até a cosmologia contemporânea, as descobertas astronómicas transformaram não só a nossa compreensão científica do Universo, mas também as formas como as sociedades representaram e sentiram o cosmos através da arte, literatura e música. Este artigo propõe uma reflexão sobre o “Universo como património cultural partilhado”, rastreando como as mudanças na física dos astros –do modelo geocêntrico à relatividade e cosmologia da expansão acelerada– se traduziram em novos imaginários visuais, narrativos e sonoros. Analisam-se exemplos que vão desde a iconografia celeste pré-moderna e a viragem copernicana na cultura europeia até as visões românticas do céu noturno, as vanguardas do século XX e a cultura popular contemporânea, mostrando como ciência e criação artística se retroalimentam num diálogo constante. Finalmente, argumenta-se que esta interação constitui hoje um campo fértil para as ciências do património e para uma compreensão ampliada da relação entre conhecimento científico, sensibilidade estética e construção de identidades culturais.
